Top trends of the four transport sectors

More stringent requirements in terms of climate protection, the increasing importance of e-commerce and the shortage of skilled professionals are some of the major challenges facing the global air cargo industry.

Rail freight transport is losing market shares in domestic transport within the European Union. In Germany, the “Rail Freight Master Plan” is now expected to increase the share of rail in Modal Share significantly by 2030.

According to Eurostat, road freight transport is by far the most important mode of transport in the EU, accounting for more than 75 percent of the total. At 71.8 percent, Germany is almost at the same level, but the shortage of drivers has become a threat to supply reliability.
