Generating value, creating knowledge—BVL International

The open network of BVL International brings together about 10.500 experts and leaders from several professional fields such as production, trade, service, science and politics. Its main focus is to advance the application and development of supply chain management (SCM) and logistics.

BVL places particular focus on the exchange of knowledge and experience. To this purpose, it offers congresses, specialist forums and free regional group events. Highlights include the International Supply Chain Conference and the Forum Automotive Logistics in cooperation with the German Association of the Automotive Industry. A new addition to the portfolio is the LogTech Festival. To communicate the importance of logistics and SCM to the public, BVL has launched the initiative "Die Wirtschaftsmacher" and the campaign day "Supply Chain Day", among others.

Survey: Sustainability in transport logistics—fleets and alternative traction

Road freight transport by HGV (>12 tonnes) causes about 25 % of all emissions in German road transport. However, the road is the mainstay of German logistics. Approximately 86 % of all goods and commodities are transported by road. Despite significantly lower CO2 emissions in shipping or rail freight transport, the flexibility and connectivity advantages of road freight transport cannot be compensated for, so that road will remain the mainstay of freight supply, with increasing pressure to become more sustainable.
